AFK Journey's Song of Strife unlocks after 42 days, Resonance Level 240, AFK Stage 1125, and the main questline, ensuring fair seasonal starts.

I have been playing AFK Journey for a while now, and when the Song of Strife season first appeared on my radar, I had a lot of questions. The biggest one was simple: when can I actually enter the new season? After reading through the official notes and watching a few community updates, I realized the unlock process is more thoughtful than a simple date drop. It is designed to keep every player on the same footing, and honestly, that made me appreciate the season structure a lot more.

To access Song of Strife, your server must have been active for at least 42 days. When the season launches, the oldest servers enter first, and newer servers follow once they hit that 42-day threshold. A countdown event banner appears 14 days before your server's season start, so you always know exactly when to log in. I remember thinking this was a strange restriction at first. Why not let everyone jump in immediately? The answer is surprisingly fair: seasons run for roughly four months and end at the same time for every server running that season. If some servers entered late while others started early, the progression gap could become frustrating. The 42-day rule compresses that gap as much as possible.

But waiting for the server is only one part of the story. To actually unlock seasonal content, I need to reach Resonance Level 240, clear AFK Stage 1125, and finish the main questline. At first, I felt a little overwhelmed. Resonance Level 240 sounds like a long grind. However, the design is not about punishing casual players. It is about making sure nobody enters the season with a massive head start or an unfair disadvantage. Everyone who steps into Song of Strife should be roughly equal at the starting line.

If you are like me and sometimes fall behind, there is an AFK acceleration mechanism that kicks in just before the season start. If your progression is lagging, the game automatically activates this boost. On top of normal AFK Rewards, you earn extra Essence from main quests and various game modes, which speeds up your climb to Resonance Level 240. I tested this on a second account, and even by just collecting AFK Rewards every day, hitting that milestone felt almost guaranteed. Once you reach Resonance Level 240, you unlock Song of Strife and all future seasons without needing to repeat that hurdle.

Now, what actually changes inside the season? The progression systems are split into two categories, and this is where AFK Journey avoids the long-term power creep that worries so many gacha players. Permanent systems stay with you forever: Artifacts, Resonance Level, Class Equipment, Hero Tier, Hero Exclusive Equipment, and similar foundations. They keep impacting main story and most game modes. Seasonal systems, on the other hand, reset at the end of every season and only apply to the current season.

System Type Behavior
Artifacts Permanent Stay across seasons
Resonance Level Permanent Foundation of your power
Class Equipment Permanent Remains effective
Hero Tier & Exclusive Equipment Permanent Remain effective
Season Resonance Level Seasonal Resets every season
Season Hero Skills Seasonal One skill per hero, unlocked after Season Resonance Level 51
Season Class Equipment Seasonal Resets every season
Season Artifacts Seasonal 8 new artifacts each season
Magic Charms Seasonal Reset every season, 5 qualities

The new seasonal systems in Song of Strife include a Season Resonance Level that resets every season. Each hero also gains one seasonal skill, which unlocks after reaching Season Resonance Level 51 and only works inside that season. Season Class Equipment resets as well. There are eight new Season Artifacts introduced each season, obtainable through the Season Journey and various modes. Finally, Magic Charms are a seasonal system with five different qualities. Collect three Charms of the same quality to activate a hero's special ability. In the late season, you can customize hero stats with different Charm sets. I loved that Magic Charms do not have levels, randomized stats, or complex inventory management. That keeps the focus on strategy rather than spreadsheet micromanagement.

Story and exploration in Esperia are a huge part of why I keep playing. Once I meet the entry requirements, I can pick up new main quests in Holistone and travel to fresh areas. There are new puzzles and exploration mechanics, and there is no time limit on any of it. Even if the season ends before I finish, the content is archived in the Temporal Nexus. From there, I can experience all past story chapters whenever I want, in any order, just like browsing episodes. That removed my usual FOMO completely.

Besides the main story, there are regular limited-time events with generous rewards. Even players who have not met the season entry requirements can join these events, so nobody is left out. Guild events are also friendlier: in Season Battle Drill, players who have not entered the season are automatically adjusted to the season's baseline level. That is a nice touch for casual guildmates.

Common Questions I Had

I know I was not the only one with questions. Here are a few that stood out to me from the official Q&A.

  • Is it okay to just AFK every day? Yes, casual play is perfectly fine. Just do not forget Dream Realm, where you can find top-tier equipment.

  • What if I forget to claim season-end rewards? There is a distribution system that sends unclaimed rewards to you, but check the claiming rules because rewards may still expire.

  • If I start mid-season, will I miss anything? You might miss some limited-time event content and rewards, but four months is enough to finish the story. Unfinished chapters can still be experienced in Temporal Nexus.

  • Can I just race through the whole map after reaching Resonance Level 240? Unlocking regions may be faster, but the journey is about growing with your companions. You still need to progress through seasonal content rather than sprinting from point to point.

  • Will resources be refunded for reset content? There is no direct refund, but rewards are calculated and distributed according to seasonal progression. Specific rules will be announced later.

  • Will every server get a full four months? Not necessarily. Servers must be open for at least 42 days. Servers ready at season start get the full four months, but a server joining its first season may have a shorter first run. Future seasons start simultaneously for all servers.

These answers helped me relax and enjoy the rhythm of the game instead of worrying about optimal play. The developers clearly want everyone to feel welcome, from daily AFK collectors to hardcore map explorers. Song of Strife is more than a content drop; it is a structured season that respects your time and keeps the long-term power curve manageable. I am already looking forward to seeing how the new areas and seasonal systems evolve over the next few months.
